Welcome to Malaysia!
Malaysia is a country in South-East Asia, located partly on a peninsula of the Asian mainland and partly on the northern third of the island of Borneo. West (peninsular) Malaysia shares a border with Thailand, is connected by a causeway and a bridge (the 'second link') to the island state of Singapore, and has coastlines on the South China Sea and the Straits of Malacca. East Malaysia (Borneo) shares borders with Brunei and Indonesia.
Malaysia is a mix of the modern world and a developing nation. With its investment in the high technology industries and moderate oil wealth, it has become a leader within South-East Asia. Malaysia for most part represents a strong mix of high-tech infrastructure vibrant daily life.
Utilizing the "Readiness for the Networked World" framework", this project will analyze aspects of Malaysian network access, the educational system, society, economy, policies and offshore outsourcing to determine the state of Malaysia's readiness for the networked world. After a brief introduction to the country, each of the subsequent sections provides data related to specific aspects of network readiness by category, an analysis of the data presented for each category, and an assessment of Malaysia's stage of readiness for the category. An overall analysis of Malaysian network access, the educational system, society, economy, policies and offshore outsourcing will provide the basis for assigning a stage of readiness for the country. Specific recommendations for improvements in Malaysia's readiness for the networked world will be discussed.
