Singapore is a small island of 3.5 million people.  It is often referred to as a city-state since it's major city, Singapore, is also the country name.  A majority of  the financial institutions are located in the city of Singapore.  Most of the high tech companies are locating to a research park called Singapore Science Park.

Singapore Science Park

The Singapore Science Park is the only science and technology Park in Singapore.  It is home to more than 240 multi-national corporations, local companies, research institutes and start-ups.

Approximately 7,500 researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, scientists and support staff work in the park.  [1]

Jurong Island

Jurong Island is the chemical and manufacturing hub for Singapore.  A project was launched by the Economic Development Board as part of Master Plan 2000 to develop a world-class chemical industry cluster.

Jurong Island is actually a group of seven small islands off the southwest coast of Singapore.  The seven southern islands are Pulau Merlimau, Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Seraya, Pulau Sakra, Pulau Pesek and Pulau Pesek Kecil. [2]

Singapore is well positioned to play a key role in the growth of Asia-Pacific's petrochemical industry with an integrated hub on Jurong Island. Many multinational companies have already  located on Jurong Island, such as Eastman Chemical and Chevron
