Established in 1918 for the extraction of coal, the Rio Deserto Enterprises today has a structure of 15 production units, administrative and research. Over the years, the company diversified its activities and today does business in the coal industry in the cultivation of citrus, forests and forestry, metallurgy, agribusiness, among others.
The coal industry Rio Deserto Ltda., A company that led the group, was not only a pioneer in the exploration of coal on an industrial scale in the region but also the first to use more modern methods for their extraction and processing, such as the use of continuous mining and thickening of lamellae. Located in southern Santa Catarina, Rio Deserto businesses have in the history of entrepreneurship twins John and Gabriel Zanette. In front of the organization is still the family Zanette, now the 3rd generation. It was the courage of Businessman John Zanette (died on July 31, 2007), coupled with the knowledge of partners and collaborators, who drove the course and development of the company.

With about 700 employees, Business Rio Deserto is present in at least eight municipalities Catarinense.
