Announcements
- Aug 20. As I explained in class, I am out of town this weekend, visiting my family in Nebraska (and hopefully viewing the total Eclipse tomorrow).
I will be returning on Wednesday, Aug 23, and posting final course grades on CampusConnect on Thursday. Thanks for your patience.
- Aug 15. The drop box is ready for your Final Project submissions. Submit a zip file with these documents:
- Nontechnical Summary
- Technical Report
- Power Point Slides
- SAS or R Scripts
- Dataset or Link to Dataset
Submit your Group Member Evaluation Form separately on D2L to keep it anonymous.
- Aug 15. The schedule of Final Project presentations for tomorrow, Aug 16, is posted.
- Aug 14. Please post your project title and members of your project group by tonight if you have not done so already.
Post this information on the Project Title and Members discussion topic.
- Aug 14. The Final Exam scores are posted on D2L. The Final Exam hardcopies will be returned to the live-section on Wednesday, Aug 16.
- Aug 14. The Project 2 submissions with incorrect late penalties should be fixed today.
I won't respond to all your emails individually. If your Project 2 still looks incorrect after tomorrow, email me back
about it.
- Aug 12. Many of you sent me email about late penalties for Project 2. Unfortunately, the grader was using Thursday, Aug 4 as the due date for
Project 2, not the later date of Aug 6 that was posted on the Announcements Page. I have asked the grader to remove the late penalty for projects
submitted by Monday morning, Aug 7. Thanks for your patience.
- Aug 9. Please submit your instructor evaluation form on MyCDM if you have not done do already.
The latest that you can submit your instructor evaluation is Aug 15.
- Aug 8. The in-class final exam will be held tomorrow: Wednesday, Aug 9.
- Aug 8. One of the requirements for each project is to submit a zip file; individual submissions for each file are more difficult to grade.
- Aug 8. The dropboxes for Projects 4, 5, and 6 are posted on D2L.
- Aug 8. Project 4 will not be counted late if it is submitted by Thursday, Aug 17.
- Aug 8. Here are the R and SAS scripts
for Project 3 that read the salary survey data, set up the dummy variables for educ, and create a new
data frame with the original variables and dummy variables included.
- Aug 8. The Project Title and Members discussion topic is posted. Please enter the title of your final project and the names of the members of your project group.
Post this by Monday Aug 14, at the latest.
- Aug 8. Our class will meet on Monday, Aug 14, when we will discuss some final details about logistic regression,
ANOVA, and its relation to regression modeling. We will discuss two case studies from the textbook.
- Aug 7. The due date for Project 3 is extended until Sunday night, Aug 13. However, be familar with the Problems on Project 3 for the final exam.
If Project 3 is submitted more than one week later than August 8, it will be
counted more than 1 week late.
- Aug 7. See the CPUReg2 Example to see how to standardize regression coefficients.
- Jul 31. Project 2 is due on August 4; it will not be counted late if submitted by Sunday, August 6. However,
it will be counted more than one week late if submitted more than one week after August 4.
- Jul 31. Project 3 is due on August 8.
- Jul 28. You can resubmit projects to D2L if you wish; D2L keeps all of the projects. Projects
resubmitted after the due date may be
counted late.
- Jul 28. One way of choosing the best regression model for Project 2 is to pick the model with the largest adjusted R2 value.
This combines the criteria of accuracy and parsimony. We will look at the CPU3 Example, which does this, next week.
- Jul 27. The Project 1 Description has been updated to refer to the paper colors white and yellow
in the data files, rather than the paper colors blue and white, which were used last summer.
- Jul 27. Before submitting Project 1, be sure to read the
Project Submission Guidelines. Note that for your answers, either a Word file or a PDF file are accepted.
- Jul 26. Reminder: Project 1 is due on July 31, at 11:59pm.

of the in-class meetings on Monday, Jul 17, or Wednesday, Jul 19, please submit a document
and comment to the Attendence Verification discussion topic stating that you wish to remain
