Workshop Description

We would like to announce the MedIX: Medical Informatics Workshop that will take place at DePaul University, Chicago, on Friday, May 6th, 2005. The workshop is an annual event organized by the Visual Computing Group and it is sponsored through a DePaul Quality of Instruction (QIC) grant, Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society, and CTI Colloquium Committee. The goal of the workshop is to provide an introduction to Medical Informatics to students, faculty, researchers, and practitioners interested in this field.

The Medical Informatics Workshop will be a full day event and will feature three introductory presentations by DePaul faculty in the morning and three advanced presentations by well-known researchers in the Medical Informatics field in the afternoon. Speakers from Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and Mayo Clinic College of Medicine have already confirmed their participation.

The Spring 2005 Workshop will be the second of a series of Workshops organized by the Visual Computing research group at DePaul University. The Spring 2004 Workshop focused on Image Processing and featured three well known researchers: Dr. Stephen Pizer (University of North Caroline at Chapel Hill), Dr. Ishwar K. Sethi (Oakland University, Michigan), and Dr. Sven Dickinson (University of Toronto, Canada).
