Parque Technologico do Rio

Concept

Established on the Campus of the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ), the Rio Technology Park was set up to encourage interaction between the students and faculty of this Institution and businesses focused in innovation. Building up a condominium grounded on expertise and entrepreneurism, the Park is firming up the natural vocation of Rio de Janeiro as a science, technology and innovation development hub.

Covering 350,000 square meters, it is designed to house businesses in knowledge-intensive sectors, tagging the energy, environmental and information technology areas as top priority. While encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit among students and supporting trainee and intern programs, this melting-pot where the business sector meets researchers, undergraduates and graduate students, ensures privileged access for these companies to laboratories, highly qualified professional staff and new business opportunities.

New-Comers Welcome

The target public of the Rio Technology Park encompasses enterprises specializing in research, as well as the development and / or production of knowledge-intensive goods or services, seeking interaction with other activities under way on the UFRJ Campus. Among others, this Park is home to businesses in the energy, environment and information technology fields. There are several ways of establishing businesses in this Park: start up companies may sign up for its Business Incubator. Companies may opt for a long term lease contract and build their premises. In this case, construction work may be undertaken by the company itself, or by the Park team, tailored to the specific needs of the incoming enterprise. Another possibility is to lease space in one of the multi-tenant buildings.
