ISAMA-CTI/2004  Course Credit

 

 

Attendees at the ISAMA/CTI conference who also participate in the pre-conference workshops may receive course credit through DePaul University. Interested attendees should initiate admittance to DePaul should they wish to enroll.

GPH 395/595 Topics in Visual Mathematics is intended for educators, mathematicians, artists, designers or anyone interested in this interdisciplinary study. Students may enroll for 4 quarter hours or for for 4.5 quarter hours for transfer as 3 semester hours. Fees for the conference are waived for registered students of this course.

Syllabus

Summer Session I

June 15 thru 19, 2004

Tuesday, June 15

Course check-in at 9:00 in the Egan Urban Center, 9th floor, 243 South Wabash, Chicago. Students will then attend the pre-conference workshops for the remainder of the day.

Wednesday, June 16

Workshops through out the day. An evening session will be held from 6:00-7:30 to determine the conference sessions to be attended by each student.

Note: The inter-disciplinary nature of the conference assures that students at all levels of expertise can be accommodated at their level of competence. 

Thursday, June 17; Friday, June 18; Saturday, June 19

Attend the morning plenary sessions and the afternoon elective sessions of the conference.

Saturday, June 19

Late afternoon closing meeting of all registered students.

Friday, July 16

End Summer Session I. Research outcomes due.

Requirements

Students will attend workshop and conference sessions as outlined in the schedule above.

Each student will determine a  research topic whose outcome is either a creative work informed by knowledge garnered through the research or a paper on the research topic.

Research outcomes are due on the last day of Summer Session I.
