The REU Programs in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were a success; students enjoyed being part of the program and published several papers in the field of image processing and medical imaging. Important Dates:
February 11th, 2008: Application submission opens
March 20th, 2008: Application submission deadline
April 8th, 2008: Notification of decision*
April 15th, 2008: Confirmation of participation**
June 16th, 2008: MedIX Program Orientation
August 22nd, 2008: MedIX Program last day
*Decision regarding applicant status: whether accepted, not accepted, or pending.
**Once an applicant has been accepted to the program, a response from the applicant, either accept or decline, must be received within two weeks of the date of the offer letter.
Summer Support for Each Student:
$4,000 stipend (paid a weekly stipend of $400 for each of the 10 weeks),
$1,475 in travel costs ($250 travel costs to and from Chicago; $225 for public transportation that will cover local travel costs incurred during the summer program such as travel to/ from dorms to lab, and to/from the participating REU sites in this program; $1,000 to attend a conference for paper presentations)
housing on campus will be arranged at the students' expense ( for more information about housing, click here)
$1,087 subsistence allowance (includes half of expected housing costs ($625) and meals during orientation week and special events ($462))
Program Requirements:
US citizenship or permanent residency
Full time undergraduate student with at least 1 year of college/university course work completed as of September 1st, 2008.
Students are not allowed to have other jobs/internships during the REU program or to be registered for any courses
