Assignment-- Discussion Be prepared to discuss:
8.1-- There is no way to estimate the benefit of a system that is intended to generate new revenue.
Management must build the system on faith, not estimates.  Do you agree or disagree?
8.2-- The assertion is made that IS departments should concentrate on getting data right rather than getting
systems up and running quickly.  Discuss the pros and cons of this argument.  How does distributed
         processing affect "getting data right"?
8.3-- Outsourcing offloads a burdensome technical responsibility and allows management to focus on its
core  business.  Outsourcing strips a company of an important core competence -- IT know-how.
Which statement do you agree with and why?  If you manage an IS area that now outsources,
in what ways has your job changed and in what ways has it remained the same?
