Interesting(?) Stuff

Editor of the column SIGCSE Spotlight, which occurs every quarter in ACM's Inroads magazine.

My textbook "Data Communications and Computer Networks: A Business User's Approach" is currently in the 8th edition and was Course Technology's Product of the Year for 2001.

Built an Altair 8800b as a graduate student in 1977.  The Altair is considered the FIRST microcomputer.  I then interfaced it to a Teletype machine for input and output.  (Got an A in the class.)

Symposium Chair, ACM SIGCSE Technical Symposium, San Jose, CA, March 1997.  The first SIGCSE conference that split away from the ACM Conference.

High school record in 100 yards backstroke lasted 23 years (1:02.4) (they had really bad swim teams!).

Blue belt, Tae Kwon Do.

Own a 1957 T-Bird and perform my own maintenance.
