KLM Results

Here are results from the KLM exercise conducted by the live section on Wednesday November 5. Students who were not present can perform their own analysis and timings to compare with the results below:

• Mortgage Calculator: Calculate the monthly payment for a $200,000 mortgage of 30 years at 5.25% interest rate to begin on December 1st, 2008.
• KLM Prediction: 25.5 seconds
• Empirical result: 21.0 seconds (SD. = 7.57 with 95% CI of 15.17 through 26.80)
• Space Finder: Find a 2 bedroom apartment that accepts pets in Chicago zip code 60657.
• KLM Prediction: 7.85 seconds
• Empirical result: 13.6 seconds (SD = 5.25 with 95% CI of 9.60 through 17.67)
• Color Calculator: Find the blue color with the html value #00639B, and look up the code for its complement.
• KLM Prediction: 10.4 seconds
• Empirical result: 32.8 seconds (SD. = 36.6 with 95% CI of 4.66 through 60.93)
