At this stage, your group works individually with the goal of exploring a large set of design ideas. Each group member should generate ideas using a combination of methods including:
A design idea may be centered around a task, object or usage option. Each individual should list a few possibilities using at least two different methods. At this point, the ideas do not need to be fully feasible. Before you consolidate your ideas with the other group members, identify the leading design ideas using the following criteria:
There is not specifically required format for the individual notes. They should be turned in with the rest of the report. As a group, your team should ultimately select approximately a dozen ideas.
Revise your scenarios from the last project using design ideas you have selected from the individual contributions. The revised scenarios are called Conceptual Design Scenarios (see section 8.3.3). They place your design ideas in the context of actual usage. You may optionally accompany your scenarios with abstract screen illustrations.
Place your selected design features in a list. Your list should have approximately 12 items.
Perform a either a card sort or a note organization exercise using the selected design features. Involve at least 2 participants per group member. Present your results and a candidate organization for your application. The results presentation should be a readable summary and explain how the results led to your proposed organization.
Format the report so that it has the following sections:
Place individual design notes in the appendix.
Submit a softcopy through the dlweb site. Only one submission per team is needed and may be submitted under any one name. The report should include the names of all the team members and how they contributed to the assignment.
I will use this grading sheet to help me review the project.
