Read Chapter 1 (pages 1 - 29).

Assignment

Each student enrolled at DePaul University is entitled to a free e-mail account. For this assignment you must:

1.  Ensure that your account has been created.
2. Obtain the password to the account.  
3. Log into the account and e-mail me your answers to the survey found at the link given below.  It is not necessary to include the questions with your answers.

The assignment is worth 100 points and will be graded as follows:

Completed survey, mailed from your DePaul University student account	100
Incomplete survey, mailed from your DePaul University student account	75
Completed survey, mailed from some other e-mail account	50
Incomplete survey, mailed from some other e-mail account	25
None	0

To activate your account and/or obtain the password to your account you must contact ID Services.  In the Loop they are located on the 11th floor of the DePaul center at 1 E. Jackson, and may be reached at extension 5959.  On the Lincoln Park campus they are located in SAC 182 at 2320 N. Kenmore and may be reached at extension 7466.

Do not procrastinate about this assignment.  You may encounter problems either with ID Services or with accessing your account.  If you do not leave sufficient time to deal with these problems, you will not be able to complete the assignment.

Technical tip

If you want to access students.depaul.edu (the machine upon which your student account resides) using a machine that is running Windows, you need to do the following:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type telnet students.depaul.edu
